The following is taken from Herringshaw’s Encyclopedia of American Biog., p. 613:
Maltby, Albert E. – Educator – born Oct. 27, 1850, in Pulaski, N. Y. Received his education at Fayetteville Academy and at Cornell University. As a teacher in Ury School of Philadelphia and in 1878 he was appointed engineer on survey of boundary line between Guatemala and Mexico. In 1880 he filled chair of mathematics and astronomy in St. Lawrence University, N.Y. In 1884 professor of natural science in the State normal school of Indiana, Penn.; and since 1890 Dr. Maltby has been principal of State Normal School of Slippery Rock, Pa. He is a successful writer on the theoretical and practical in school methods.”
